Read the CSW Position Statement regarding the revised shoreland rules in the 2007 Draft of Natural Resources Chapter 115 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code Citizens for a Scenic Wisconsin is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the scenic character of Wisconsin's communities and countryside. We advocate for state and local policies that support scenic conservation and improve community livability. Wisconsin has been a wonderfully scenic state and a pleasant place to live, and it is our mission to keep it that way. Citizens for a Scenic Wisconsin promotes conservation of natural scenery, scenic approaches to cities and towns, natural vegetation along roads, responsible and planned land use, strong signage control and other measures to preserve natural beauty and distinctive community character. We know that growth and change are inevitable, but believes that ugliness is not inevitable. Citizens for a Scenic Wisconsin believes that a visually pleasant environment adds greatly to our quality of life and is also good for business, especially tourism. In recent years, a degradation of our environment and scenery has become evident. Unplanned urban sprawl has invaded peaceful scenic areas. Excessive commercialization in the form of large billboards in cities, along roads and in the countryside is marring the image of the state that we all hold dear. Citizens for a Scenic Wisconsin is working to reverse this trend. Revised May 22, 2008 |
